FAMILY HOME RENOVATION | HLÁSNÁ TREBAŇ, CZECH REPUBLIC
Description:
In 2003, we undertook a renovation of the family house and SF Design office, which had remained largely unchanged since it was first constructed. Originally built in the 1950s, atop a hill, the house's floorplan was composed of many small rooms and spaces. The renovation involved transforming it into an open plan, whilst preserving the house's original style. It involved removing walls and replacing them with supporting beams, fundamentally modifying the bearing structures, so that daylight and sightlines could traverse the house throughout. In the end, without having expanded the floorplan, the house feels larger.
